When I started my career in the beauty industry as a model and actress, I didn’t know a thing about makeup. I had a better understanding and appreciation for skincare. Even when I was living and working in New York City, and helping my makeup artist roommate from time to time on projects I still didn’t really grasp the total understanding of color cosmetics.

It wasn’t until much later when I started working for international cosmetic brands and doing live events,  that I gained clarity and understanding of the use of color cosmetics also known as makeup .

That’s when the true  purpose of color cosmetics for the everyday person came into view for me!

Of course I was absolutely fascinated by the transformative power of makeup but, I was more in awe of the lead artist’s ability to create a beautiful, perfectly natural look using the lightest, most minuscule amount of makeup.

I later came to understand that it’s not about the amount of makeup being applied, it’s more about individual skin tones and color correction coupled with specific application techniques according to the individual,  that make all of the magical difference !!

I believe that one of the most important things a woman can know is how to make herself feel better and look more beautiful. This is why it’s my pleasure to offer both skincare and makeup classes. Even in this multi billion dollar world of skincare and color cosmetics, many women really have no practical understanding of proper use of skincare. Not to mention the actual benefits of makeup when used to make subtle corrections to create symmetry in one’s features and evenness in the skin tone..

It’s okay if you don’t  know how to properly do your makeup or  how to best take care of your skin  and its specific needs because no one ever taught you.Maybe you’ve been afraid to ask. However, don’t spend one more moment copping out with self depreciation!!! This is no way to treat ourselves or teach our young women.

Do you know how many times I have heard a woman say that she has never had a facial , or had her makeup done. professionally. I always respond with this reply: That’s perfectly alright. However, if you do have an interest , do it . Life is too short to never have gotten your makeup done professionally or not to have a facial 🙂

I wrote this article because as a licensed beauty professional I meet a lot of people and it’s high time that we women give ourselves permission to be free in and to own our individual beauty. I know it can be hard at times but , we are all in this sisterhood together and it’s when we take interest in ourselves and then indulge that curiosity that we blossom…. even when we are 60 years or more.
